Privacy policy

Arabooki (Hajjaj Brothers SL) processes your personal data responsibly and in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

What data we collect

  • Newsletter: email and preferred language. Legal basis: consent.
  • Free PDF downloads: email and preferred language. Legal basis: provision of the service + optional consent.
  • Contact form: name, email and message. Legal basis: handling your request.
  • Library: email and name, linked to the activated book. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Analytics cookies: only if you accept the cookie banner. Legal basis: consent.
  • Mobile app camera: the Arabooki app only uses the camera to read the QR code printed in your book and activate it. It takes no photos and stores no images, and only the code it reads is sent, to activate the book.

Browser extensions

Hajjaj Brothers SL publishes two free extensions for Chrome, Edge and Firefox under the Arabooki and Escuela Internacional de Árabe brands. They work without an account or sign-up, and we receive no data from the people who use them.

“Readable Arabic”

Makes Arabic text on web pages larger and shows it in an easier-to-read typeface.

  • Page text: to find the Arabic, the extension reads the text of the page you have open. This happens inside your browser: that text is not stored and is not sent to us or to anyone else.
  • Settings: it stores three preferences (whether it is on, the chosen size and the websites where you have turned it off) in your browser’s storage. If you have browser sync turned on, your browser copies them between your devices with your account (Google, Microsoft or Mozilla), under its own privacy policy. We have no access to them.
  • No connections, no tracking: it does not connect to any server (its typeface, Noto Naskh Arabic, is bundled with it) and uses no cookies, analytics or advertising.
  • Permissions: it asks for access to the pages you visit, because without it it could not change the Arabic typeface, and for storage, to save the settings. It uses them for nothing else.

“Arabic Keyboard”

Shows an on-screen Arabic keyboard so you can type in Arabic without changing your computer’s keyboard.

  • What you type is stored only in your browser’s storage, so it is still there the next time you open the keyboard. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. The “Clear all” button deletes it.
  • Voice dictation: in Chrome and Edge, the “Dictate” button uses the browser’s own speech recognition. While you dictate, the browser sends the audio to its speech service (Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge) to turn it into text, under that service’s privacy policy. The extension does not record or store the audio, and neither the audio nor the text reaches us. It only works when you press the button and after you have granted microphone permission.
  • Keyboard on the page: when you click the icon or use its keyboard shortcut, the keyboard opens in that tab, under the box you are typing in, and types what you press into it. It does not read the page content or store what you type there, and it only acts in that tab until you close it.
  • Right-click menu: if you select text and choose “Send to the Arabic Keyboard”, that text is copied to the keyboard and stored like the rest of what you have typed.
  • Copy and Search: “Copy” puts the text on your clipboard. “Search on Google” opens a Google search with that text; from then on, Google’s privacy policy applies.
  • No tracking: it uses no cookies, analytics or advertising.
  • Permissions: storage (to save the text and preferences), the right-click menu (to add its options) and access to the active tab only when you open it (to place the keyboard on the page). It uses them for nothing else.

Both extensions link to arabooki.com and eiarabe.com with campaign parameters (utm_source=extension), which only tell us that the visit came from the extension; if you open those links, each website’s privacy and cookie policies apply. The extensions’ use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. If a future version ever needed to process personal data, we would update this section and the extension’s listing in each store first.

Processors

We work with GDPR-compliant processors: Supabase, Sanity, Hostinger, Mailrelay, Resend/Postmark, Google Analytics 4 (with consent), Amazon (when you click a purchase link). We do not sell or transfer your data for advertising purposes.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing, data portability and withdrawal of consent. Email salam@arabooki.com with subject “GDPR” and a copy of your ID. You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

Amazon Associates Programme

When you click an Amazon purchase link on this site, Amazon may set tracking cookies in your browser to credit our affiliate program. This does NOT share your personal data with us — it only lets us know the purchase came from here, anonymously. Amazon's processing is governed by their own privacy policy.
